SUNN 1200S Sound Settings
Here's a set-up guide for the SUNN 1200S. Bassist extraordinaire Ray Riendeau hung out in our offices for an entire day while we tweaked the settings, listened to some killer bass riffs, and took notes. Our R&D team also relied on Ray's input during the final sound tests.
While the six suggested settings were done with the 1200S, you could certainly adapt them to the 300T as well.
For our Tone-Party, Ray Riendeau played his American Deluxe Jazz Bass V. The active EQ knobs were all set "flat." The Pickup Pan knob was set in the center, except for the Jaco tone.
The PAD switch on the 1200S was pushed "in" except as noted.
For basses with PASSIVE electronics, we'd recommend trying the same settings, but with the PAD switch disengaged.
The SUNN 410T cabinet was employed with the tweeter knob set on 1/2, except as noted.

P.S. Don't forget the importance of FRESH bass strings. The American Deluxe Jazz Bass V comes equipped with great-sounding Fender OEM 8250 "Super Bass" strings, and the sound settings outlined here DEPEND on a good string-tone!
Also note that the 1200S has FOUR speaker outputs. If you want to use multiple cabinets, hook them to these jacks individually with heavy-gauge speaker cables! Otherwise, "daisy-chaining" the cabs may provide an unintentional fireworks display. This amp has so much power; it will fry your cables if you hook it up wrong. Incidentally, either head with a 215 and 410T in tandem makes an incredible combo. Enjoy!
